Wedding Umbrella Guide

Rain on the wedding day is a risk in most of the world. A good wedding umbrella keeps the bride dry and often becomes one of the day's best photographs. Here is how to choose one.

Choosing a wedding umbrella

What colour should a wedding umbrella be?

Ivory white is the traditional choice for a bride, and it suits most dresses. Bucklesbury makes two ivory wedding umbrellas: the Classic Ivory White Wedding Umbrella (£175) and the London Wedding Umbrella in Ivory White (£255). Champagne is a softer alternative.

What size should it be?

Choose a full-length umbrella for the bride. Our Classic Umbrella has a canopy 106 cm across, and is about 91 cm long. See our size guide.

Should the groom and the wedding party have umbrellas too?

Many couples choose matching umbrellas for the groom, the bridesmaids and the ushers, which also makes a practical thank-you gift. Black, navy and racing green are traditional choices for the groom and ushers. See wedding umbrellas and gifts for the wedding party.

When should we order?

In-stock umbrellas are usually dispatched within 2–3 working days. If you need several matching umbrellas, order early, as each one is made by hand in small batches. Contact us if you need a particular number.

A wedding umbrella that lasts

Every Bucklesbury umbrella is constructed by hand in London using traditional techniques, individually finished by a craftsman and Rain Tested In England™. It arrives in a cotton cover and a Bucklesbury presentation box, and is made to be used long after the wedding day.

Caring for a wedding umbrella

How do I keep an ivory umbrella clean?

Leave it open to dry after use, never store it wet or creased, and clean it with plain water only. See our umbrella care advice.
