Questions

Bucklesbury umbrellas, answered

Where are Bucklesbury umbrellas made?

By hand in a traditional London workshop, in small batches, using traditional techniques. Each umbrella is individually finished by a craftsman. The workshop continues a London umbrella-making tradition dating back to 1805.

What is the difference between the London, Classic and Telescopic umbrellas?

The London Umbrella is our finest: its handle and shaft are cut from one continuous length of English wood (chestnut for gentlemen, maple for ladies). The Classic Umbrella has a solid English beechwood shaft, a wooden crook handle and a 106 cm canopy. The Telescopic Umbrella is compact, folding to 45 cm so that it fits in a bag, with a 102 cm canopy.

What materials do you use?

All the wood we use is English, from sustainable forests. Our handles are made in Germany and our canopies are cut from Japanese-engineered fabric. Every umbrella is assembled by hand in London.

What does Rain Tested In England™ mean?

Before it leaves us, every umbrella is opened, inspected and tested in the rain in England.

Do you deliver worldwide?

Yes. UK delivery is free, and we send umbrellas to Europe, the USA and the rest of the world by DHL Express. Orders are dispatched in 2–3 working days. For UK Christmas delivery, order by 16 December.

Are Bucklesbury umbrellas good gifts?

Every umbrella leaves us in a cotton cover and a Bucklesbury presentation box, ready to give.

How does the London Umbrella compare with a Swaine umbrella?

Both are one-piece umbrellas made in Britain. The Bucklesbury London Umbrella is made by hand in London from English wood and dispatched from stock; Swaine lists its one-piece oak and maple umbrellas at £620 with a 4–6 week lead time (swaine.london, October 2026).
